Which music production software is the best?

FL Studio, Ableton, Logic and co.: every DAW has its strengths.

This kind of software is called a DAW, a digital audio workstation: your studio in a laptop. The honest answer: there is no single best one. But each has its strengths.

  • FL Studio: super fast for beats, which is why trap, rap and pop producers love it. Lifetime free updates.
  • Ableton Live: strong for electronic and dance music, and for live shows. In Session view you launch loops and clips spontaneously on stage.
  • Logic Pro: Mac only, but a lot for a one-off price of around 230 euros. Easy step up from GarageBand.
  • Pro Tools: the classic in big recording studios.
  • Cubase: made in Hamburg, by the way.

Almost all of them have a free trial. Try two or three.

Your song doesn't sound better because you use a different program. It sounds better because you know yours really well.

In shortFL for beats, Ableton for dance and live, Logic for Mac. And then: keep at it.

All figures are rough guidelines for beginners and focus on Germany. They are no substitute for legal or tax advice.
